Escort Robber Apprehended

Over a four month period a 'predator' in Covington, Louisiana attacked and robbed 4 escorts. In a spate of these violent attacks he would meet the escort, lure her into an apartment and attack her before he took away with her money and possessions.
Contacting the women through the backpage.com, the 26 year old would pick a girl at random and book an appointment with her in order to catch her off guard.
The case was open for months due to the fact that many of the women weren't willing to come forward, whilst a few varied reports came from concerned citizens who heard a woman's scream, or saw a suspicious man running through their neighbourhoos.
It was due to the nature of these women's professions that a lot of the case remained open so long, with the women choosing instead to treat it as a blip on the radar.
This is the truly worrying part of the story, as it shows definitively how the repression of escorting and the criminalisation of the act is putting those women who partake in the industry, in a great deal of danger.
It is an unesccapable fact that even though many countries will hold strict laws against what they see as 'prostitution', there are still going to be women that work in the industry. The money is good, the hours are good and if you like the work, you can't find a better job!
This is just another in a long line of wake up calls that ought to spark a reform in the laws guarding against solicited sex, prostitution and escorting. Everyone needs to be protected, and by marginalising a whole sector of people, we're never going to progress as a society.
